Lawrence’s reputation was solidified with his recent win in the Jogani v. Jogani case, a 21-year legal battle that involved five brothers from India with extensive holdings in the diamond trade and Los Angeles real estate. In this landmark case, Lawrence represented Shailesh Jogani and was instrumental in securing a $10 billion verdict. This case is one of the largest property disputes in U.S. history, involving an oral contract and breach of partnership with the division of assets consisting of 187 apartment buildings. Shailesh Jogani was awarded his agreed upon shares in the family’s vast real estate portfolio. The case is often compared to the complexity of Charles Dickens’ Bleak House. It showcased Lawrence’s extraordinary skill in navigating intricate legal landscapes, securing one of the most notable verdicts in recent years.
In addition to his trial work, Lawrence has argued before the numerous federal circuit courts of appeal, including the Ninth Circuit, Fifth Circuit and Federal Circuit. He has represented clients in cases in federal courts across the country, including the California District Court, Southern District of New York, District Court of Massachusetts, District Court of Minnesota, Delaware District Court, Delaware Chancery Court, District Court of Northern Texas, and South District of Florida. His impressive trial record, which includes jury trials, bench trials, and binding arbitrations, further cements his status as a top-tier lawyer.
Lawrence earned his B.A., cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine in 1986. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 1989. He is a proud member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, including the California Supreme Court and the California Court of Appeals. He has earned a reputation as a zealous advocate in both trial and appellate law.
